Munkres : Family : Burlington, VT

This season has been so full of great family sessions.  As we creep up to the holidays, time is so limited that it may seem impossible to fit in photos on top of all the other stuff you have to get done.  People forget sometimes that they take their kids out of school for not-so-fun stuff like doctors and dentists.  An hour out of school for a shot in the arm, why not for a shot of their cute little face?! Well worth it don't you think?  And you can leave your weekend for the shopping!

This lovely family shoot was a weekday morning.  I roll into work a bit early, and they roll in a bit late. And honestly, I would have kept Amelia from school all day if I could, just to keep taking photos of her. Those shining brown eyes peeking out from behind her stylish bob . . . perfection! Thank you Munkreses!

Circus Smirkus Residential Program

I can't tell you how excited I was when I was asked to photograph the residential program for Circus Smirkus.  Vermonters (as well as New England at large) may be familiar with Circus Smirkus from the youth troupe that hops from town to town entertaining the summer masses.  What some may not know about is that Circus Smirkus also has a residency program.  The program sends circus veterans into schools to share and teach their magic.  Children learn a variety of skills using their bodies and minds to tackle new and fun challenges.  It was so rewarding to watch the confidence build in a kid who after many tries,  finally mastered a difficult trick.   And at the conclusion, the kids get to perform and show off their newly acquired circus talents. So fun!

I've varied my crops in the photos below to show how versatile photos can be for a corporate client.  Whether to be shared for editorial stories, used in marketing materials or banners on a website, a nice image goes a long way.  Hope you enjoy these smiling faces as much as I did. And don't forget to check out Circus Smirkus Residencies for your kids school, I know I'll be advocating for one at mine!

Lyons Family : Mini Shoot : Burlington, VT

Mini shoot?  What the heck is that?  Well, as I'm sure many of you can relate,  not everyone has the time or inclination to schedule a full shoot.  And this time of year, most available shoot times would require taking the kids out of school for the morning, (not that they would mind though, right?! And the promise of some hot cocoa from the Chocolate Factory and hey, it's a TREAT to have your photo taken!  Email me, there is still time before xmas!!)  So one solution is the mini shoot.  It's the same as my normal shoots, but shorter and on location near my house :)  Basically the same rules apply, but cut everything in half.  The shoot time (typically 20-30 minutes), the cost ($200 weekend, $150 weekday) and the number of digital files (5 fave high resolution jpegs!)  AND you must come to the south end of Burlington.  Either meet me at Callahan park or if you live in the hood, I can come to you!

Not the full fun of a standard shoot, but I can promise just enough beautiful images to make Grandma swoon and distant friends sigh with the sight of your gorgeous children.

I just did a mini shoot for this awesome family.   Sam is in the same first grade class as their youngest son and they live right around the corner.  Since this was an after school shoot, I had the LaMonde boys in tow,  but luckily a bit of TV was enough to keep them engrossed while I was outside with the Lyons crew of kids

(Wait, did I just admit to using the idiot box as a babysitter . . . please don't judge me.)

You have to just love the dynamic of older brothers and little sis.  Brothers can be rough and tumble. Believe me, I know.  It was weird having conflicting instincts when they came to blows.  The mom of Sam and Joe would snap "Hey guys! Knock it off!" But these guys were arguing over who gets to hold their baby sister? So freakin' cute.  Well alright then, let's see who loves her more!

(totally kidding)
